The Engineering Center Steyr (ECS) develops the worldwide known and successful fatigue-software FEMFAT. For many years, the ECS relies on the cooperation with technical colleges, universities and F&E institutes. Besides the own innovation power, collaborations form the foundation for the high end technology FEMFAT is known worldwide.
It is of high interest for us to further strengthen these collaborations, to intensify our engagement in the area of fatigue life prediction and to foster students interests in fatigue.
This intention laid the foundation to initiate the „Academic Fatigue Research Award “. This price has been awarded 2019 during the International FEMFAT User Meetings in Austria for the first time. This bi-annual conference enables a broad discussion forum to exchange with users from industry, experts from research and science and the FEMFAT development and support team.
This award honors scientific works focused on fatigue life and durability, as well as applications and future developments in fatigue life prediction. A jury represented by experts from industry and science will review the submissions and declare a winner prior to the user meeting. The winner presents his work to an expert auditorium at the International FEMFAT User Meeting (mandatory) which will be part of the ECS Simulation Conference. Other selected submissions will have the opportunity to present their works by posters during the ECS Simulation Conference in Linz from April 14th to 15th 2021.
Papers focusing on the following topics are accepted for submission:
Deadline of submission: December 31st, 2020
The award is open to: Graduate works not older than 3 years like bachelor thesis, master thesis, doctor thesis and habilitation treatise.
Documents: Curriculum vitae, Title of presentation and extended abstract (max. 5 pages including pictures max. 3 pages without pictures) in English
The primary criterion of rating will be the technical novelty and the applicability to industry, but the quality and design of the submitted documents will be judged as well. Decisions of disapproval or non-consideration of registrations have to be accepted
